    Sat, October 26 – Promise Place will host its 15th annual Run to End Domestic Violence Race at 8 am at the Thomaston-Upson Civic Center. Race day registration begins at 7 am- 7:45 am. The race will begin promptly at 8 am. The cost is $25 before race day or $30 the day of.     Sun, October 27 - Thomaston First United Methodist Fall Festival will be held on October 27 from 4 to 6 pm. Trunk or Treating, Bounce Houses, Games and so much more. Please tell your friends. The church is also in need of volunteers. You do not have to be a member of the church to volunteer. We hope to see you on October 27 at TFUMC.
     
    Tues, October 29 - A luncheon will be held for all of the volunteers that helped to make the Thomaston Smithsonian Exhibit a success. The luncheon will be held at the Auditorium of URMC and invitations have been sent by email to all volunteers.  
     
    Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for 'The Shop' to be held on Weds, October 30
     
    The Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that a ribbon cutting ceremony for 'The Shop' will be hold on Weds, October 30 at 11:30 am.
    Young and Motivated Husband and Wife Team, Trey and Sasha Holley opened their new automotive repair shop in Thomaston earlier this month. Their moto is "Next Generation of Automotive Excellence".
    The couple will follow in the footsteps of Sasha's late father, Mark Fowler and have brought a new automotive shop to our community. Their goal is to be a permanent fixture in Upson County that offers the best repair service at reasonable prices.
    The Shop is located at 123 Echols Circle, Thomaston. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. They have also developed some really cool Shop Merch! Be sure to check their website @ www.theshopga.com.

    Youth Leadership Upson Orientation held for Class of 2020
     
    Youth Leadership Upson Orientation was held on October 15 at the Upson EMC Annex. Congratulations to the YLU students for 2019/2020: Taaliyah (Aliyah) Anthony, Shelby Byrd, Zaria Childs, Christian (Noelle) Delli-Gatti, McKenzie Fry, Harlie Hurst, Maddox Jackson, Grady Kilgore, Lauren McDaniel, Kara Beth Neighbors, Lindsay Norris, Emma Kate Peoples and Ian Shales.
     
    The mission of YOUTH LEADERSHIP UPSON is to expose selected high school students exhibiting leadership traits to the business, political and civic working of our community.
     
    This group is made up of seniors, juniors and sophomores that are residents of Upson County and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills. Each student is selected for a one-year term. To successfully complete the program, a student must attend each scheduled class. The students will attend a team building training on Friday, October 25 at NorthRidge Church, sponsored by TenCate Protective Fabrics. Additional sponsors of the Youth Leadership Upson program are Upson EMC, The Pie and T-U School System.

    Sun, November 17 - Make plans to tour the Thomaston-Upson County African American Museum on Sunday, November 17 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The AAM is located at 406 Joe White Street in Thomaston. If you would like to arrange a special touring date for school, church or family groups, please call 706-938-0667. There is no cost associated with touring the African American Museum, but donations are always welcomed.
