  • Tuesday, January 23 - Youth Leadership Upson will visit the State Capitol and meet with Georgia EMC to learn more about Economic Development in the State of Georgia. Students will leave from Upson County at 7:20 am on January 23, meet with Governor Deal at 10 am, tour the Capitol and then head to Georgia EMC. Students will return to Upson County no later than 4 pm on January 23.

    Friday, January 26- Tourism Council Meeting, 9 am at the Chamber office Holly Winner, Georgia Department of Economic Development Regional Tourism Project Manager for Presidential Pathways will be our guest speaker. The Tourism Council will receive an email next week with all of the details. The date has been set though for Upson County's Tourism Assessment. It will take place on March 20-22 (dates have changed) by the State of Georgia.

    Saturday, January 27 - DDI Charity Masquerade Ball - DDI will be hosting their 5th Annual Charity Ball and Live Auction in Griffin, GA. This is their kick-off fundraising event to support their community efforts and raising funds for their scholarship campaign. Last year, they were able to give away scholarships in Upson, Lamar, Pike, Crawford and Spalding Counties! Tickets are available NOW!     Tuesday, January 30 - Annual Banquet Planning Committee Meeting - 8:30 am at the Chamber office.

    Tuesday, January 30 - Annual Business Expo Committee Meeting will follow the Annual Banquet Planning Committee Meeting, this meeting should take place at 9:30 am.

    Wednesday, January 31 - Adult Leadership Upson Class of 2018 will have their orientation on January 31 at noon at The Pie. Adults participating in the class this year are: Nash Austin (EMC Engineering), Joey Barrett (Georgia Power Company), Nate Crawford (Hannah's Mill Animal Hospital), Chandler English (Upson Regional Medical Center), Tracy Harper (SouthCrest Bank), Al Hinson (Thomaston Hospice), Alex Perry (EMC Engineering), Michael Powell (Upson County Family Connections), Bryce Robinson (Thomaston-Upson School System), Katie Salter (United Bank) and Russell Thompson (City of Thomaston).

    Saturday, February 10 -Thomaston Kiwanis Club Sweetheart 5 K Road Race/Walk is February 10, 2018! This is certified as a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. The race will begin and end at Greatest Generation Park. Registration opens at 8:00 am and race starts at 9:00 am. You must register by January 26 to guarantee a Shirt on Race Day! The cost is $30/ $35 the day of the race. Checks are payable to: Thomaston Kiwanis Club. Mail to: Kiwanis Club Race, 101 North Green St. Thomaston.

    Wednesday, February 28 - Sun's Up Breakfast on February 28 at 7:30 am at URMC. More information to follow: Guest Speaker is Kirk Fjelstul, Executive Director of Three Rivers Regional Commission. We are still looking for a Sun's Up Breakfast sponsor for the meetings that will be held in February, May, September and December.     Saturday, March 3 - Distinguished Young Women of Upson County will hold its 61st Annual Showcase on March 3, 2018, 3:00 PM at the Upson Lee Fine Arts Center. Girls in the Class of 2019 are encouraged to register to participate at DistinguishedYW.org no later than January 18. Scholarships for college will be awarded.
